Don’t miss the action at the fifth edition of Southeast Asia’s very own festival of ideas, the Cooler Lumpur Festival. Taking the theme ‘Notes From The Future’, the event line-up reflects a mixture of social, technological, cultural and political ideas mirroring the present and the future.
This annual multidisciplinary festival is curated by the British Council Malaysia, the Goethe-Institut, and the US Embassy in partnership with PopDigital; and brings writers, artists and innovators together to inspire conversations and stories.
Festival highlights include:
- The White Mask Visual Art Exhibition (curated by Sharmin Parameswaran, Interpr8 Art Space)
14 to 22 August
This art exhibition portrays a world overtaken by advanced technology with programmable graffiti, self-replicating urban architecture, religion control by nanobots, and more; inspired by Zedeck Siew’s ‘The White Mask’, a short story from the CYBERPUNK: MALAYSIA anthology.
- Journalism Campus
18 to 20 August
The current state of journalism and topics like fake news, social media and others are explored through a series of talks by Malaysian and international journalists.
Check out these kid-friendly activities at the Cooler Lumpur Festival:
- Cooler Lumpur Junior
