In the jungle, the mighty jungle…the lions aren’t sleeping because the Rainforest World Music Festival is on! Running from 14-16 July, the 20th edition of this festival will feature three days of workshops, performances, fitness activities, cultural talks, exhibitions, a craft bazaar and more.
Held at the Sarawak Cultural Village, the festival is now in its 20th edition and is bigger and better than ever. The main draw of the event is the chance to listen to music from all around the world, with renowned musicians from as far as Korea, South Africa and Tahiti performing alongside indigenous talents in evening performances on the main stage.
In the afternoons, there’s plenty to do with informative workshops, cultural talks by the Friends of Sarawak Museum, an exhibition by the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, a Doodle Wall by Pustaka Bookaroo and a Brazilian samba workshop by the Singapore School of Samba. Plus, attend talks and sessions on Vipassana meditation, yoga, health and more.
Fuel up at the Asia Food Kitchen with a wide spread of Asian and international fare – you can even meet the chefs! And don’t forget to bring home handmade souvenirs and local traditional sweets from the event by shopping around the Rainforest World Crafts Bazaar, which you’ll find at the Melanau and Malay House area.
Make a culture trip out of it and get to Kuching a bit earlier for the Rainforest Fringe Festival, which runs from 7-16 July! Read all about it here.
