After a 16-year absence, Kuala Lumpur plays host to the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) for the sixth time with the theme ‘Rising Together’. Running from 19-30 August, the Games will be even more special this year as it concludes on the eve of Malaysia's 60th birthday!
The biannual regional competition will see some 4,888 top athletes from all 11 Southeast Asian countries vie for top honours in 38 sports, ranging from aquatics and rugby to badminton and basketball. Malaysia itself is fielding 874 athletes, the largest contingent fielded since the 2007 Korat Games.
The events are held at venues spread out through the Greater Klang Valley; tickets are required for 19 selected events, priced at a very affordable RM10-RM20 each (and selling fast!), while entry to all other events is free.
