Week 2 of the George Town Festival runs from 31 July-6 August and sees the festival going into full swing! Many performances to catch this week – including The Manganiyar Classroom (5-6 August), which sees 35 young Manganiyar students singing and dancing their boredom away in class as kids do.
That weekend also features a pop-up live performance installation, Good Good Fortune, where audiences are led one by one through a series of activities to explore your own agency in choosing your own ‘fortune’.
Other performances include CELL, which uses puppetry, physical theatre and music to tell the story of a dying man and his pet fish on the trip of a lifetime (workshop 4 Aug, show 5 and 6).
Then there’s the Cosmicomic Toyscape (6, 13, 20 Aug), where kids can join in the creation process using life-sized toys and participate in interactive storytelling sessions of the toys in the evenings.
