A celebration of all things Japanese, the Bon Odori festival is an excellent excuse to break out the cosplay outfits and indulge in Japanese treats. The 41st edition of the traditional Japanese dance festival is hosted by the Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur and will be held at the National Sports Complex in Shah Alam on 22 July from 4.30pm to 9.35pm.
A drum performance will kick off the festivities at 7pm, followed by traditional Bon Odori dances and guest performers, as well as a Japanese wadaiko (Japanese percussion) performance. What makes this Bon Odori even more special is that it will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Japan; in honour of the occasion, a fireworks display is scheduled for 8pm.
To make it easier to get to the venue, there will be a free shuttle bus service from the KTM Shah Alam station to the stadium from 4-11pm. No high heels or drones are allowed!
