If you’re going to be driving anywhere for the long weekend (thanks to the National Day (31 August) and Hari Raya Haji (1 September) holidays), make sure your Touch n’ Go card is fully reloaded. All 134 reload lanes on PLUS highways will be closed from 29 August to 4 September in order to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
This isn’t a first – PLUS has previously closed its reload lanes during other major celebrations such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year, which showed an improvement in traffic flow upon the highways.
"Based on our observation and study, the temporary closure of reload lanes during the previous festive season had lessened traffic congestion at toll plazas. Thus, we will continue to use the same approach during the coming and future festive seasons," said PLUS Managing Director Datuk Azman Ismail.
If you forget, don’t panic – you can still reload as usual at ATMs, convenience stores, petrol stations and other outlets. Here’s a list of places you can reload at without a reload fee or with a reload fee of RM0.50. Remember that all PLUS highways are fully electronic now so if you don’t have a Touch n’ Go, make sure you get one.
