Just Ask Justine: 2014 Christmas bazaars in Kuala Lumpur

Q: I would like to go to one or two of the charity bazaars. Do you know when and where they are happening?

A: Yes, there are lots of Christmas bazaars taking place during November and December in Malaysia. They are all wonderful fund raising events organised by the various expatriate communities. It’s well worth visiting one or two to pick up some unique and interesting gifts and to get in the Christmas mood!

Here's a list of the bazaars ordered by date.


 

SATURDAY, 1 NOVEMBER
The Latin Ladies Charity Bazaar
Where: Ground Floor, 1 Mont Kiara Mall, Mont Kiara
When: From 10am–7pm
What: A wide selection of vendors plus kids activities and performances.




 

SUNDAY, 2 NOVEMBER
The Japanese Charity Bazaar
Where: Level 3, The Prince Hotel,
When: From 10:30am–3pm
What: This is not a Christmas bazaar as such but I understand it can be a very busy event with various vendors, including some who sell electronics, plus Japanese foods.



 

SATURDAY, 8 NOVEMBER
The IBU Christmas Bazaar & Jumble Sale
Where: White Box and Black Box, Publika
When: From 10am–6pm
What: Twenty stalls selling crafts and gifts in White Box and 20 ‘Jumble Stalls’ in Black Box where you are sure to find preloved toys, clothes and baby items at great prices. There will also be children’s activities on offer.
Price: Entry RM10 on the door


 

SATURDAY, 15 NOVEMBER
The Austrian, German & Swiss Christmas Bazaar
Where: Carcosa Seri Negara
When: From 11am–3pm
What: One of the smaller bazaars with traditional Christmas cookies and seasonal foods, plus handicrafts.
Price: RM20 entrance fee (RM5 for children)

 


 

SUNDAY, 16 NOVEMBER
The MANZA Christmas Bazaar
Where: Le Meridian Hotel,
When: From 10am–3pm
What: Lots of stalls selling Gifts, Crafts, Refreshments etc
Price: Entry RM15 in advance, RM20 on the door.



 

TUESDAY, 18 NOVEMBER
The American Association of KL Christmas Bazaar
Where: The Renaissance Hotel, KL
When: From 10am–3pm
What: This is probably the largest of the bazaars with 130+ vendors. Everything from clothes and jewelry to Christmas ornaments and food products.
Price: Entry RM15 in advance, RM20 on the door (inclusive of a tea or coffee)



 

SUNDAY, 30 NOVEMBER
The ABWM Christmas Bazaar
Where: The Renaissance Hotel, KL
When: From 10:30am–2:30pm
What: Over 80 vendors selling crafts, gifts, homewares etc.There is a dedicated children’s section, Father Christmas will make an appearance along with a choir who will be singing Christmas carols
Price: Entry RM15 in advance, RM20 on the door (inclusive of a tea or coffee)

 



THURSDAY, 4 DECEMBER
Le Marche De Noel
Where: Carcosa Seri Negara
When: From 10am-5pm
What: This very upmarket bazaar hand picks its 55 vendors guaranteeing an interesting selection of beautiful gifts and they promise many new vendors this year. There will be lucky draws throughout the day
Price: RM20 donation for entry, in advance or on the door

THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER
And if you can’t make it to any of these events head to Allisons Place in Bukit Damansara where she has a special Christmas Grotto full of Christmas gifts, open every day from 8am–4pm!
