Walking into the resort, one can’t help but feel giddy with excitement as you hear happy kids splashing around the pool, which is surrounded by a green compound planted with dozens of palm trees. Upon arriving, guests can relax in the Lobby Lounge at the entrance of the resort, where they can enjoy signature lemonades made with different flavours such as ginger and strawberry.
We checked into our Deluxe Seafacing Room and were greeted by fresh sea air on the attached balcony, which had a full view of the resort and the sea beyond. The room was furnished with two single beds, a 32-inch LCD television with satellite channels, in-room locker, mini refrigerator, coffee and tea-making facilities along with the customary amenities resorts offer.
While the rooms are eminently comfortable, it’s clear from looking at the various activities available here that Golden Sands Resort does not just want their guests to stay cooped up in their rooms. The resort has something for everyone in the family to do, including a day care centre for toddlers, a full-fledged Adventure Zone for older kids, a personalised barbecue pit, a bar and grill by the beach, an indoor gym and entertainment centre, a reception ballroom and a nine-hole golf course!
Of these, the Adventure Zone is one of the most exciting offerings for the kids, being an extensive indoor playground housed within a complex. The wow-factors of this facility come in the form of three exhilarating drop slides – the Hyperglide Astra Drop, Double Drop and Demon Drop. Plus, the hotel has built fun new features into their children’s play areas, including a splash pad complete with water slides leading to a children’s pool, a tipping water bucket, water sprays, floor water jets, tipping cones and water cannons among others.
So, besides the wealth of things to do while out and about in Penang, there’s plenty to do within the hotel itself! If you’re going to stay here, make sure to book a longer stay to enjoy both Penang and your luxurious stay at the Golden Sands Resort.
