Christmas is only a handful of sleeps away so gift lists and turkey plans should be well underway. A hallmark of Christmas décor is, of course, the iconic Christmas tree – so we’ve listed a few places where you can get (real, plastic or wood) trees to really kick off the festive spirit in your home.

If a plastic Christmas tree just doesn’t cut it anymore and you want your living room to look really festive, this is the year to indulge in a proper tree.

Floristika is offering an early bird promotion on live Christmas trees imported from Europe. Trees will be available in the following sizes: 4/5ft, 5/6ft, 6/7ft, 7/8ft and 9/10ft.

Order online or in person till 30 November for great savings, e.g. pay RM540.60 for a 4/5ft tree with a stand and delivery within the Klang Valley – the normal price after will be RM572.40 (without the stand and delivery).

There’s nothing like scent of real pine in your home so order now and the trees are estimated to arrive by the end of November. Potted poinsettia is also available.

IKEA

Unfortunately the furniture retailer giant no longer sells live Christmas trees due to logistical difficulties, but if you’re in the market for pretty and reusable, IKEA still has artificial trees that look good and won’t shed pine needles all month long.

Look to the FEJKA series for standing easy-to-assemble trees priced at RM129 (155cm), RM249 (180cm) and RM499 (200cm). You can even get them in pots at RM49.90 if you want something festive for your desk or table – and if you’re tired of the traditional pine tree aesthetic, change it up with the other types of artificial plants on sale.

Check out IKEA’s winter catalogue here or visit their physical stores, but be warned – you may leave with more than just a tree!

Sheeza PalletShop

If green Christmas trees are getting a bit stale for you, why not try something different this year? Sheeza PalletShop is offering a wooden Christmas tree made from stacks of reclaimed wood, which means your tree can be unique and eco-friendly!

It’s made with stacked planks that jut out in all directions to mimic the boughs of a real Christmas tree. This means that besides the regular hanging ornaments, the tree can also support larger decorations like candles and presents. Think of the decorating possibilities!

It comes with wheels, is flat packed for easy storage and the price depends on the size of the tree – all trees are custom made to order. Take a gander at Sheeza PalletShop’s Facebook page for some examples of this rustic ‘tree’ and order early to get it finished before 5 December. Delivery is free.

Spotlight

Instead of buying the Christmas tree and the strings of multicoloured LED lights, get a tree that comes with its own lighting! Spotlight is currently selling artificial trees with fibre optic strands tucked amidst the green boughs, illuminating the tree with a sprinkling of colour at night.

For something more traditional, Spotlight also offers a pre-lit tree with 250 LEDs to save you the hassle of getting tangled in Christmas lights. But if you’re only looking for the regular pine tree, they have that too at RM129.99 (RM77.99 for VIP members) for a 180cm tree in green or white.

Check out their stores at Ampang Point, IPC, MyTown and The Mines to get a look at the trees in person and snap up some baubles and other décor while you’re at it.

Chinatown

We’re not talking about the main Petaling Street crossroads with the handbags, watches and street food; instead, take a walk along Jalan Sultan nearby, where you’ll find a number of stores specialising in festive decorations. Christmas, naturally, is no exception!

Some stores such as Nan Thong are already stocking artificial Christmas trees that range from six to eight feet. Prices vary according to height (cheapest starts at RM74.10 for a 1.2m artificial tree in Living Cabin, while the most expensive is a 1.5m artificial pine tree for RM130) so it’s best that you visit the stores to have a look for yourself. Bring a local to translate if you can!

The selection of Christmas decorations at these stores is equally extensive, so take your time to wander around and see if you can find any inexpensive but pretty baubles for your home this year.

Lazada

The beauty of online shopping is that you can browse through many different stores without ever having to set foot in one – which is especially helpful when it comes to shopping for a Christmas tree.

A quick search on Lazada for Christmas trees turns up artificial pine trees at great discounts, some of which even come with free decorations. Look at the seller ratings and reviews – if any – to ensure that you’re getting a good tree. Check delivery times to make sure you get your tree on time too!
