
Le French Festival 2019
From now to 12 May, celebrate all things French as the highly anticipated annual Le French Festival is back! This month-long festival will see films, music and theatre productions, exhibitions, workshops, F&B events and more taking place across four cities – Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu. Don’t miss the screenings of award-winning French films throughout the festival, or the production of ‘The Story of Cyrano de Bergerac’ (one of the most renowned French plays) by the KL Shakespeare Players on 27-28 April. Malaya Relived: Merdeka
This musical production brings audiences back to 50s Malaya. When British Foreign Correspondent Sylvia travels to Malaya to document the country’s fight for independence, she meets Raj, a staunch supporter of the rising anti-colonial movement. What follows is a tale of forbidden love, loyalty, identity and most importantly, freedom and what it means to fight for your own independence. This immersive show is set to lively original music, so come and enjoy the food, sights and sounds of traditional Malaya from 19-21 April. Tickets are priced at RM70, and you can get them here.

Ning LIVE!
Catch this live concert by Malaysia’s Queen of Soul, the award-winning Ning Baizura in a special performance at the National Zoo this 20 April. She will be performing alongside the zoo’s own colourful animal show, and there will also be a meet-and-greet and autograph session with her after the show. This concert is organised in support of MYCAT (Malaysian Conservation Alliance For Tigers) and its objective to save the last remaining Malayan tigers from extinction. Stars of West End Sing The Rock Musicals
The British Theatre Playhouse is putting on a spectacular musical theatre production of showtunes from some of the world’s most iconic musicals. Crackhouse 5th Anniversary Comedy Carnival
Malaysia’s longest-running comedy club, Crackhouse Comedy Club KL is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a full month of laughs and stand-up comedy. Music Extravaganza at the MPO
In the months of April and May, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will perform various genres from opera and ballet to pop culture tunes and soundtracks. April will see a tribute to video game music as well as feature artists like Japanese-American concert violinist Ryu Goto playing with the MPO; while in May, guest conductors will lead the orchestra through gorgeous works by renowned composers, as well as Family Fun Day concerts and a musical journey through movies like ‘Star Trek’, ‘Titanic’ and ‘Avatar’.
