Meet The Editor: Caramella Scarpa

We welcomed our new editor, Caramella Scarpa, with a meet-and-greet session at Splash, The Westin Kuala Lumpur. Over a hundred guests from corporations, media outlets, F&B brands, fashion labels and other industries packed the venue to overflowing, eager to get to know the new face of Expatriate Lifestyle.

Guests sipped on welcome drinks and engaged in animated conversation before Patrick Brennan, CEO of Mongoose Publishing, took the floor to bid everyone a warm welcome and hint at exciting new things to come with Expatriate Lifestyle.

This set the stage for Caramella to make her first speech as Editor-in-Chief of the magazine. She introduced Expatriate Lifestyle's new revamp over the site and the print issue, as well as reaffirming the brand's commitment towards providing interesting and relevant content for new and long-term expats, along with Malaysian readers.

While Expatriate Lifestyle's content covers a wide spectrum from education and travel to health, food and homes, what makes it unique, she said, is the fact that the lead articles engage with the target audience by covering expats from a wide range of industries. Not only can they tell their stories, they can also pass on insider information on doing business and living here - challenges every expat will have to face.

The last to speak was Miki O’Farrell, Marketing Director of Mongoose Publishing. She kept her presentation short and sweet with a teaser of upcoming events planned for the Expatriate Lifestyle brand – among them a beer festival, pub quizzes and more – and noted that Expatriate Lifestyle was open to partnering up with other relevant brands for these events.

After the introductions and presentation, everyone’s attention turned to the food. Attendees heaped plates high with a delectable selection of food from the Brazilian churrascaria buffet, with the clear favourites being the barbecued chorizo and the seafood.

Guests ate and mingled inside the venue or outdoors by the poolside – more still sought out Caramella herself to make their own introductions and exchange a few words face-to-face.

All too soon, it was time to say goodbye and each guest left with a giftbag containing the August issue of Expatriate Lifestyle (read the cover story here!) and a special facial kit courtesy of THE FACE SHOP. We thank you all for coming and appreciate your support for our new Editor-in-Chief!
