Lilin+Co
The idea came about when Julie Yim (one of the founders) received a scented soy candle as a wedding favour and realised that there was a lack of local handmade candles in the market. And so Lilin+Co cwas established in 2016, creating modern, minimalist hand-poured soy wax candles. Soy wax is natural, burns longer, biodegradable and non-toxic – and therefore much better than paraffin. The inspiration behind these candles comes from travel destinations and people met along the way. Popular picks include the Classics, which are made with familiar ingredients and come in combinations like Black Tea & Lychee, Lemongrass & Lime and Vanilla Bourbon; the latest release is Wild Frangipani. Come festive seasons, expect scents like mulled wine and blackcurrant plum.

SANCTUARY by Jasmine Gan
Jasmine Gan, founder of SANCTUARY, appreciates a nice smelling space and a good scented candle, which led to her creating a brand that encapsulates this. These premium small-batch candles are made with soy wax, lead-free cotton-core wicks and top-quality fragrance oils and extracts. Following the belief that scents evoke feelings, these candles fill spaces with warmth, serenity and familiarity. SANCTUARY candles range from evergreen scents like Green Tea & Lemongrass and Lime Basil & Mandarin to a destination inspired Voyage line. There are also seasonal scents and special editions for celebrations like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas, and they also create candles for wedding favours, appreciation gifts and any other bulk orders.

Kandle Kandle
Founder and candle enthusiast, Kidult Chew, named her brand Kandle Kandle according to the first letter of her nickname. Although a relatively new name in the market, the brand’s unique aroma combinations and reasonable price have made it a popular home scent option. Made from soy wax, these hand-poured candles have high-quality essential oils and wood wicks. Each candle is numbered according to its scent, e.g. Scent No. 1 is Pear, Freesia, Patchouli; Scent No. 2 is Ambrette, Sea Salt, Wood Sage; Scent No.3 is Bergamot, Cedarwood, Vetiver; and so on. There are currently six scents to choose from and candles come in two sizes.

Tish
Tish is a luxury lifestyle brand that offers curated homeware items, but began as a scented candle business. Founder and chief curator, Shermaine Wong, launched Tish in 2014 with the aim of creating a homegrown homeware and bespoke event styling brand. Tish’s scented candles can be personalised according to occasion and individual preferences, and there are currently two scents available in-store – À La Rose (a burgundy rose scent with fresh white floral, burgundy wine musk and applewood undertones) and Raspberry Kisses (a blend of blackberries and raspberries with subtle notes of white floral greenery, musk and vanilla).

Wax Wick Wonder
Local flavours are the focus at Wax Wick Wonder, a brand run by a mother-daughter duo who started it as a passion project. These soy wax candles are made in small batches and hand-poured in the family kitchen and has now become a full-fledged business. Popular scents used to make the candles include coconut, pandan, cinnamon, lemongrass, lime, and even mangosteen and rambutan! They also do personalised wedding favours and flavoured soy wax melts (use in oil burner). Wax Wick Wonder also occasionally appears at markets and bazaars around town, so keep an eye out for them.
