Happy Fish
At Happy Fish, lessons are conducted by professional instructors and coaches with an emphasis on fun and safety in an aquatic environment. Their first centre opened in Singapore and gained AUSTSWIM’s Gold Level Recognised Swim Centre award, and is now equally popular in KL. Their baby and toddler swimming lessons include water familiarisation, breath control, trauma-free submersion, free floating, propulsion and independency. Each lesson lasts about 30 minutes with an effective teaching system and recognised syllabus. Their heated pool runs on a high-quality salt chlorinator combined with a UV system, and is kept at a steady 30-32 degrees Celsius. This is so young children don’t suffer stinging eyes, dry skin and hair, and are comfortable to stay in the water without feeling cold.

Aquabubs
This swim centre located in Bangsar was started by a pair of mums, Joanne Ho and Zarina Parry, who are both certified AUSTSWIM (Australia’s national organisation for the teaching of swimming and water safety) instructors. There are classes for children aged four months to five years, all taught by AUSTSWIM-trained teachers and lasting just half an hour to conform to short attention spans! The programmes incorporate water familiarisation, water safety education, survival skills and eventually stroke development. Family Swim sessions are a popular way for parents to get in the pool with the little ones and have fun or practise their swim skills. The saltwater pool is heated to an ideal temperature of 33 degrees Celsius so everyone feels very comfortable in the water. There are 75 classes weekly catering to all levels and ages.

Finns Boutique Swim Centre
This new child-centred approach swimming centre is located in the heart of KL and offers swimming lessons for children aged six months to 12 years. Their priority is teaching water safety, and classes are kept small so maximum attention is given to the children. The custom-built saltwater pool has a depth of 1-1.2m and is covered so it’s never too hot. At Finns, ‘water play’ is taken very seriously! Instructors focus on active listening and observation, and teaching survival and safety water skills in a fun way. They believe swimming is a life skill that should be taught well and use holistic methods that keep the children keen and the parents involved, especially for the younger ones.
