
Petrosains Science Festival
The fifth edition of this festival sees educational activities, workshops, talks, interactive exhibitions, fun games, science shows and health and fitness sessions for the whole family. From 14-16 September, the Petrosains Science Festival will be held across Petrosains, KLCC Park and the Esplanade – all within the vicinity of the Twin Towers. This is a fun and positive way for Petrosains to work with scientists, academics, environmentalists, public institutions and private corporations to bring science to the masses, and a great weekend for learning.

A Journey Through Time – History By Bricks
If your kids are Lego fans, this intriguing photographic exhibition should keep them occupied for a couple of hours. Happening from now till 22 September, this free exhibition is all about history told through Lego figurines and bricks. The kids will get a kick out of seeing historical events and characters like the Trojan Horse made from their favourite building blocks. The exhibition is great for those aged six to 18.

The Man Who Planted Trees
Gardner & Wife Theatre presents its latest production, the critically acclaimed ‘The Man Who Planted Trees’ from 27-29 September in Penang; 2-4 October in Kuala Lumpur, 5-6 October in Johor Baru and 8-13 October at Petaling Jaya. This is a multi-sensory adaptation of Jean Giono’s story and will be performed by the Puppet State Theatre Company, which is based in Scotland. The protagonist is a shepherd who transforms the barren land he lives in by planting thousands of trees with his dog, who looks to be the star of the show. Tickets are available now from RM60.

The Moscow Circus
The renowned Moscow Circus is coming to town for an eight-month nationwide tour, which started on 10 August through to March 2019 covering several cities and towns. This circus was formed by combing two troupes – the Bolshoi Circus and the Nikulin Moscow Circus – and has nearly 40 performers. It’s proudly animal-free and has a huge fully air-conditioned Big Top tent. Bring the kids to watch jaw-dropping, seemingly death-defying performances from illusionists, acrobats, trapeze artists and one of Europe’s best circus clowns. Borneo International Kite Festival
Bintulu may not be your first choice for a holiday destination, but this coastal town in Sarawak has a lot to offer including nature hikes, longhouse stays and the famed Niah Caves. There’s also the annual Borneo International Kite Festival held at Bintulu’s old airport, which is listed in the Malaysia Book Of Records for having a whopping 2,500 kites flown in formation. From 28 September-2 October, the skies come alive with kites of all every shape and size as both amateur and professional kite flyers pit their skills against each other. There will also be plenty of things to see and do like cultural performances and workshops.
