Hansel & Gretel – A Fairy Tale Opera
The Kuala Lumpur City Opera presents at klpac the classic fairy tale with a slight twist on the original story. Hansel and Gretel are punished by their mother and go into the forest to pick berries, which is where the adventure begins. They encounter curious characters like the Sandman, Dew Fairy, and the wicked Witch who turns the siblings into gingerbread. Kids aged six and above are welcome on all dates and on Family Fun Day (7 July), there’s no age limit. Tickets are going from RM88 to RM168 and there are special family packages available. The show runs from 5-8 July so book tickets now!

Head here for a fun afternoon of distortion and ‘how did that happen?’ moments – it’s always fun to confuse the kids! There’s a selection of rooms to explore including the Kaleidoscope (see many, many versions of yourself), the Vortex Tunnel where balance is key (or is it?), and what will be many kids’ favourite, the self-explanatory Head On A Platter. Try A Musical Theatre Class
The Story Book has great book-related activities for younger kids and is now offering more activities for the older ones. On 21 July, there will be a musical theatre trial class where they will learn choreography, breathing methods, theatre games, voice projection, and how to sing the chorus of ‘Singing In The Rain’. There will be two groups – Young Performers for kids aged 4-6, and Musical Theatre for 7-12. The class costs RM40, lasts an hour and is a good introduction to what musical theatre is all about.
