Tedboy Bakery

In attempts to escape the heat on a sunny Sunday morning, we walked past the al fresco dining tables of Tedboy Bakery on Jalan Telawi 4 and into their quaint shop lot, which doubles as a bakery and café, and were pleasantly greeted by the smell of freshly baked croissants.

We helped ourselves to a table at the back of the café as the other tables were occupied by young families and couples. Clearly this was a popular breakfast and brunch meet-up joint.

Going through the menu was no easy feat—should we have their signature bagels or be greedy and have a typical big breakfast, pasta or even a burger? We eventually opted for the salmon mango croissant and the English breakfast between the two of us.

I liked the fusion of the Norwegian smoked salmon, cream and mango wedged between a buttery croissant—the combo wasn’t overly creamy nor too dry, just right and not overwhelming for a light brunch. The croissant was also served with a generous salad—a good one for those who like their veggies first thing in the morning.

The English breakfast consisted of turkey bacon (a beef bacon option is also available), chicken sausage, fluffy scrambled eggs, croissant, well-seasoned mushrooms, baked beans and baked tomato. This was definitely one of the larger meals for the big eaters.

The cake display was one to feast and drool over. We were (again) spoilt for choice with the array of sweets which included lemon meringue, tiramisu, chocolate tart and blueberry cheesecake. After much pondering, we opted for the tiramisu—not the best choice on our end as we should’ve saved dessert for after lunch! But for those who enjoy petit cakes with lots of cream, the tiramisu is a popular choice according to one of the counter staff.

Overall the experience at Tedboy Bakery was pleasant for a Sunday brunch. The only critique I would add is that table service could be a tad faster. Other than that it was all smiles from the staff members. When I drop by Tedboy Bakery in the future, I’ll try out more of their pastries and breads.
