Marimbar is a new jungle-themed rooftop bar located on the 35th floor of the Pinnacle PJ Tower. It boasts panoramic views of both the PJ and KL city skylines, which are best enjoyed with a drink in hand on the alfresco balconies at sunset. The bar gives off tropical vibes with bright green foliage walls, animal print seats and a painted tiger over the entrance. There’s an extensive selection of signature and classic cocktails, wines and imported liquors, and a menu of light bites and mains to accompany your drink.

This restaurant brings the distinctive flavours of East Malaysia to Bangsar. Borneo Restaurant and Bar merges traditional recipes from Sabah and Sarawak with modern cooking techniques for a contemporary dining experience. Diners can expect dishes made with indigenous ingredients like dabai (black olives grown in East Malaysia), janggut duyung (which translates to mermaid’s beard, and is a type of red seaweed from Sarawak), as well as options like the iconic kolo mee served with olive-fed pork and hinava (cured fish; Sabah’s version of a ceviche). Timothy is a cosy café occupying a refurbished building in Chinatown. It serves a variety of dishes inspired by Southeast Asian flavours and influenced by hearty Australian brunch culture in a rustic space. Look out for dishes like the Thunder Rice (a traditional Hakka rice dish accompanied with an array of ingredients like tofu, nuts and vegetables and a green herb tea broth), mushroom risotto and Gayithri Pasta – penne with Indian spiced butter chicken.

The Public House KL
The latest venture by the Vintry Group, this stylish gastropub offers a medley of Asian tapas, Western dishes and plenty of hearty comfort food. Dishes here range from the signature roast pork and grilled baby octopus for starters, to thin crust pizzas, cheese platters, steak and a selection of Asian mains like Hokkien mee, braised noodles and japchae (Korean stir-fried glass noodles). There’s also an extensive collection of wine housed on shelves that line the walls of the bright space to go with your meal.

RAGE Coffee
RAGE Coffee is a cool coffee shop that offers customers the option of ordering their drinks through its very own RAGE app. Expect the usual range of espresso and tea drinks as well as more creative specialty concoctions like the Clockwork Orange (orange, cardamom, milk and coffee) and the Bangkok Love Story (Thai tea leaves brewed with espresso and condensed milk). Drinks are also served dairy-free with alternative milks like coconut, oat and soy. At the flagship store in Menara UOA Bangsar, there’s a neon-lit RAGE Room filled with bean bags and a punching bag if you want to let off a little steam.
