Don’t let the opulent décor at MAZE throw you off; this gin specialist bar stocks an impressive list of craft gins from around the world, serves good gin-based cocktails, and offers G&Ts that are paired with more than just lime, lemon or cucumber. Their ‘gin sum’ cart service allows you to pick out all sorts of fresh garnishes to test with you drink. The G&T Happy Hour is every Sunday to Thursday 6pm-9pm when the drink goes for only RM12++.

Mercat Barcelona Gastrobar
The crowds flock to Mercat (both the Bangsar and the new Mont Kiara outlet) for delicious Spanish food, an impressive list of Spanish wine, and a selection of G&Ts done right – think simple, classic Spanish-style G&Ts paired with different garnishes to bring out and enhance the gin’s flavours. If you’re in the area at night, there’s a special Gin o’ Clock promo where you’ll get three G&Ts for the price of two.

By the same people behind Coley, Pahit is a specialist bar focusing on gin, so you already know the gin-based cocktails here are good. The bar boasts an impressive selection of labels from all over the world, and takes pride in its range of house-infused gins (which include ingredients like pandan). You won’t go wrong with any of their sous-vide infused G&Ts; but if you want something sweet, go for the lychee and ginger flower combo.

This favourite neighbourhood bar recently shifted out of their cosy nook at DR.Inc to bigger premises just up the road. But popular offerings still remain, like drinks from their Koktel menu – a list of enjoyable cocktails with local ingredients like the asam boi (sour plum). If you’re here for the gin though, go for the Gin & Coconut. It’s a cocktail of simple ingredients – gin and coconut water – which together become a refreshing drink, perfect to end the day.

Omakase + Appreciate
The longevity of this speakeasy which opened in 2013 (and a nod in last year’s Asia’s 50 Best Bars list) testifies to their expertise in crafting tempting cocktails. The menu is regularly updated to keep offerings fresh. But in a bar named for the Japanese concept of ‘I’ll leave it to you’, you’d do well to let the experienced bartenders concoct a cocktail specially for you. After all, what’s better than a customised gin cocktail created based on your own preferences alone?
