The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) has launched the MRSC First Aid App, delivering first aid advice to smart phone users through videos, animation and interactive quizzes on what to do in emergency situations. Get advice how to deal with burns, choking, broken bones, asthma attacks and other common first-aid scenarios correctly.
The aim is to develop a culture of safety and prevention in the home where it has been estimated that 80% of accidents happen. The app is the first kind in Malaysia and was developed with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Co-branded with Prudence Foundation, the app is available for free in English and Bahasa Malaysia on both iOS and Android. Launched to coincide with the upcoming SEA Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 19 to 30 August this year, the app also offers practical tips on staying hydrated and other useful advice for athletes and spectators.
Basic first aid is a skill everyone should have and it is important to note that the app provides basic information on first aid, but doesn’t replace proper training in any way, and medical advice should always be sought when necessary.
