New International Schools To Look Out For

More Malaysian students are being enrolled in international schools than ever before. To meet increasing demand, more international schools are slated to open offering various curriculums and fee brackets.

Straits International School Rawang 
Straits International School Rawang is part of a group which includes an established international school in Penang. The purpose-build campus encompasses an indoor swimming pool, badminton courts, arts, sports fields and art, music and drama facilities. The school follows the British national curriculum leading to IGCSE qualifications in Y11 and will open for its first intake in September. 

Annual tuition fees: RM18,480 (Year 1); RM26,250 (Year 6); RM30,120 (Year 11)

King Henry VIII School 
The newest British day and boarding school in Malaysia will be opening in September this year accepting children aged three to 18. King Henry VIII School in the first international branch of one of the oldest independent schools in the UK – Christ College Brecon. Primary students will follow the UK Primary National Curriculum leading onto IGCSE and A Levels in secondary school. 

Annual tuition fees: RM15,000 (Year 1); RM48,000 (Year 3-6); RM65-80k (Year 7-13) 
Annual boarding fees: RM38,000 (weekly); RM42,000 (full boarding)

Oasis International School 
The latest school to offer an American curriculum, Oasis International School is due to open for the 2018/19 academic year and is accepting students from kindergarten to 12th grade. The school is part of the Oasis International School network (schools in the US, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, China), and students will be taught by U.S. certified teachers in a purpose-built campus spread across 12 acres. Sports and the performing arts are very much part of the student life, and lifelong learning is emphasised.

Stonyhurst Penang International School 
Slated to open in 2019 in Penang, this is yet another international branch of an established British independent school, Stonyhurst College. This co-ed school will be located in Tanjong Tokong and will eventually accommodate 1,200 students aged three to 18 following the British curriculum with Jesuit principles and values at its core.
