The musical chronicles the life of Ah Kit who dreams of joining a Chinese opera troupe.
Through unfortunate circumstances, he angers Fui Koh, the current superstar incumbent, leaving the manager with no choice but to put him on stage as a replacement.
Ah Kit becomes the new star, but over time, the business declines. Heavily in debt, Ah Kit borrows money and vows to produce the greatest show ever.
