Until 22 Mar 2017
French Language Week in Malaysia

Love the romance of the French language and its rich culture? Then mark your calendars as Alliance Francaise Kuala Lumpur is celebrating French Language Week in Malaysia from 12-22 March 2017!

The Drawing Freely exhibition is currently running at the organisation’s headquarters in Lorong Gurney, Kuala Lumpur. It features 11 panels of press-related cartoons drawn by 50 international cartoonists, each giving commentary through various themes on press freedom on each continent. It’s free and the exhibition is open from 10am to 6pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays, running until 1 April.

At 7pm on 20 March, some of the comic artists such as Nicole Lambert, author of Les Triples; Belgian cartoonist Cost and Malaysian’s own Reggie Lee will join Professor Dr Muliyadi of Universiti Teknologi MARA (PhD on Comics and Cartooning) and Professor Shamsul, Director of Institute of Ethnic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in a panel to discuss how cartoons and comic strips can be used to chart the evolution of society. This is free as well with registration.

Bring your kids here in the mornings to catch some storytelling sessions with Gregory, a professional actor. On 18 March at 9.30am and 11.15am respectively, the theme is ‘Emotions’. At 8.15pm on 24 March, Gregory will hold a special session where he will tell tales, legends and myths across French-speaking countries.

The ‘Emotions’ sessions are suitable for children three to seven years old as colouring activities are included, while the ‘Legends’ session will suit older children from eight to 12 years old, but all are welcome. Each session is about an hour and 20 minutes long. Fees are RM20 per child or RM50 for three.

If all this has piqued your interest to learn the French language, contact the AFKL for class schedule. Classes run from 7 April to 24 June and course counsellors can be reached at
