The August issue celebrates different national and independence days and features people from diverse countries like Argentina, Jamaica and Italy. How do expats celebrate their national days when they live abroad? And are they more patriotic than when they were living at home? These questions are well answered and coincide with Malaysia celebrating its 60th year of independence.

On the food front, we feature the great Malaysian breakfast – from the richness of coconut rice in nasi lemak to the tasty simplicity of roti canai. We also talk dessert cafés, vaccines, pastoral care in schools, furnishing according to style and exotic rail travel, which all makes for an interesting and eclectic read!

Don’t forget to cast your votes in for the Best of Malaysia travel awards and stand a chance to win great prizes. Check back to the site on 3 August for the finalist lists and make sure your favourite places take top honours.
