Young Explorers’ Club @ The Andaman
19 Jan 2012
There’s no better time to take a trip up north to the island paradise of Langkawi. It’s the dry season for the West coast of Peninsular Malaysia, so it’s sunny skies for a day at the beach. In fact, bring the whole family and book a room or two at The Andaman, Langkawi where the kids can go on an adventure with the Young Explorers Club while mum and dad soak up a little sun, sand and surf.
Young ones of all ages can explore all that Langkawi has to offer. Roam free around the resort and look for all sorts of wildlife that inhabit the island, from the shy Dusky Langurs to the daring Macaques to the glorious Great Hornbill.
Discover ancient rainforests or the beautiful beaches that surround the resort led by the resort’s resident naturalist, Irshad Mobarak in a series of Nature Discovery activities such as Stream Detective, Beach & Rock Pool Detective and Young Geologist.
Young Explorers can also learn about the coral reefs that fringe the shores of Langkawi at The Andaman’s soon to be open Coral Nursery. Discover the role coral reefs play in the grand scheme of the world’s ecosystem and gain hands-on experience in transplanting and growing coral.
Langkawi’s rich culture is also not one to be missed. Young Explorers can immerse themselves in the deeply rooted Malay culture of Langkawi through lessons in basic Bahasa Malaysia, lessons in ‘Cak Lem Pong’ or ‘Gamelan’ drums as well as Malay cultural dance classes.
Afterwards, enjoy the Young Explorers Lunch Buffet by the beach at a special rate for all children but complimentary for those on a Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Kid’s Pass. The SPG Kid’s Pass allows children 12 years and under to enjoy free food and drinks throughout their stay.
