EL Tries: Yehwadam Revitalising Serum

I’ve always felt like I’ve missed out on a few ‘How To Be A Girl’ lessons, especially where skincare is concerned. My skincare regime is ‘as and when’, as in ‘when I remember to do it’. Basic facial cleanser aside, I usually leave the rest to my monthly visit to the beautician. My colleague’s horrified expression when she found out, however, told me that it was time for a change. “Take care of your face while you’re still young or you’ll regret it!”

With that sage advice ringing in my ears, the opportunity to try out the Yehwadam Revitalising Serum by The Face Shop came at a perfect time. One of five products in the Korean beauty brand’s newly-launched Yehwadam Revitalising range, the serum’s selling point is that it contains extracts from herbs, plants and flowers that Koreans traditionally rely on to maintain their youthful looks.

Every day for a month – or as close to every day as I could manage – I massaged a coin-sized dollop of serum into my face. I dislike applying sunscreen because of the uncomfortably sticky residue it leaves on my skin and I was worried that the serum would have a similar effect.

Happily, the serum absorbs easily, leaving my face feeling moisturised without discomfort all day. I’ve always had issues with dry, peeling skin around my T-zone (nose and forehead), so this was a welcome change for me. No more unsightly patches when I use foundation! As a bonus, the serum is also lightly perfumed with a pleasing floral scent.

I wanted an expert opinion so I waited to visit my beautician to see if she would notice the change. Instead of her clucking disapprovingly over my dry skin as usual, I was gratified to hear, “Your skin seems to be much better this month!” even before I told her that I was using the serum.

A month isn’t long enough to tell whether my complexion has the potential to achieve K-pop star levels of flawlessness, but the Yehwadam Revitalising Serum definitely made a positive difference to my skin and I’m happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a skincare solution. All skin reacts differently, though, so make sure to do a patch test first.
