Nicolas Grimaldi1 Jun 2012
Nicolas Grimaldi is from Monaco. Yes, like Prince Albert, Princesses Caroline or Stephanie. Although he was born in Djibouti and raised on the Caribbean Island of St Martin, the Principality of Monaco, is where he used to call home.
Only two years ago did he move to Malaysia. As usual, it was just a matter of being at the right place at the right moment.
“It was during summer. The 15th of August, which is a holiday in France and everything is closed. I got a call from a friend asking me if I could come for an emergency. As I was the only osteopath working that day, I could not say no. Little did I know that this emergency was going to change the rest of my life”.
And in fact, it did. The patient that required such urgent attention was none other than the son of Datuk Sri Najib Tun Razak. Long story short, a couple of months later, Nicolas was on a plane, single ticket in hand, to Kuala Lumpur.
“I had to give it a go. A good friend of mine was pushing me to take the leap. The encounter with Datuk Sri Najib’s son was just what I needed to dare” explains Nicolas. “However, despite recommendations, it was not always easy.”
Through perseverance and the continuous support of his Mexican girlfriend—who gave up a medical practice in South America to follow him to KL—Nicolas has managed to build a regular and dedicated clientele.
“Obviously, at first, I was focusing on the expatriate clientele. However, throughout the months, we started to realise that more and more locals were coming. It is now a good mix.”
Nicolas also has created an international clientele. With people flying from Hong Kong or Singapore, his schedule is now more of an MNC’s CEO.
“About a year ago, I started this new method to treat asthma and eczema. We have seen tremendous results and as I am the only one doing it in Asia, people are starting to know about it.” Disciple of Jacques Gesret, Nicolas Grimaldi is indeed the only practitioner in this part of world to provide effective treatments to cure these diseases. “
Jacques Gesret, after years of studies, has realised that every single person who had asthma, had the same condition. He then created, and trained practitioners, to his method.” And the results just speak for themselves.
Not only does Nicolas deal with humans, but he is now even treating horses. “In the Middle East and Europe, this is something that has been around for many years. I just started it here. Horses are like humans. As long as you know the animal’s morphology, you can apply the same techniques to it.”
Working with the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club, Nicolas gets to know the owner, the habits of the animal and how it is ridden. “I am not a ‘horse whisperer’, but a horse’s history helps understand why it is limping, or not performing.”
Travelling back and forth from Monaco, Mexico and Kuala Lumpur, Nicolas has now decided to settle here and share his experience. ”It’s now time for me to train people. There is a serious lack of osteopaths in the country. And so much potential!”
