Vintry

Vintry

As a neighbourhood wine bar, Vintry on Jalan Kasah is without equal in the Klang Valley. But where Vintry really excels is in its atmosphere and ambience. Walking in, the space feels cosy, comfortable and relaxing.

And that continues through any time spent in this Spanish-inspired eatery and bar. Slouchy couches sit in an alcove behind two tall round tables, with a few modest dining spots hidden behind the shelves of wine.

Upstairs is a similar story; low lighting creates the atmosphere and large, comfortable furniture facilitates the quiet buzz that always fills Vintry.

If you don’t eat pork then Vintry is not for you. If however you do, you are in for a treat. Here, the pig steals the show. Spicy caramelised pork is simply stunning; bite-sized chunks of the meat, some fleshy, some crispy (and some a little too fatty) are absolutely packed full of sweet, sticky flavour.

French beans, too, sautéed in plenty of garlic, are well worth trying, as is the platter of herby pork sausages served on a base of creamy mashed potato. Delicious.

These small, tapas-like dishes are where Vintry does best, but two main courses are worthy of a mention.

The angel hair pasta and stir-fried Korean noodles both host crispy pork, similar to the caramelised stuff at the beginning of the meal, sat on a bed of plump noodles. Perfect—as most things here are—for sharing. Not that you’ll want to share, especially when it comes to the superb tiramisu for dessert.

We’ll be back to Vintry many more times. The only fear is that its enthusiastic crowd will outgrow its modest size.
