Uncle Zack By The Beach31 Oct 2016
One of the best things about Parkroyal Penang's Uncle Zack By The Beach is the beautiful sunset views that diners can get over the sea - and happily for us, we managed to catch a gorgeous example when we visited for dinner. With the perfect weather, this beachfront restaurant is indeed a perfect setting for a romantic night out.
We started our meal with a Tapas Platter, which consisted of tempura fish cake, smoked salmon, roasted vegetables, prawns with mango salsa, pandan flavoured chicken with chilli peanut sauce, satay, spring rolls, marinated button mushrooms and samosas. The prawns and salsa were the highlight for this platter simply because the seafood was fresh and the flavourful salsa was sweet, sour and spicy all at once.
On to the appetiser – Prawn and Scallops Delight served with House Cocktail Dressing. The sweet and creamy tang of the dressing went well with the freshly cooked prawns and scallops, making them taste even better than they looked and whetting our appetites for more.
For mains, we had the Australian Black Angus striploin and the Island Grill Specials of tiger prawn and seabass. The former came with well cooked asparagus, juicy tomatoes as well as mushrooms that were sautéed to perfection. The vegetables complemented the steak, which was well grilled with hints of pepper and butter.
The highlight of our dinner remains the tiger prawn and seabass. While their seabass was perfectly seasoned, their tiger prawns, marinated in lemon and garlic, were huge and extremely fresh, succulent and crunchy. On the side, we had grilled asparagus and cherry tomatoes as well as creamy mashed potatoes, with a delicious citrus butter sauce to tie it all together.
Ending dinner on a sweet note, we fell in love with their Royal Lemon Cheese Cake, which was creamy perfection with vanilla gelato and berry compote, as well as the darker delight of Homemade Chocolate Nut Brownie, which came with chocolate gelato.
