Canoodling, Bangsar
2 Feb 2011
Brought to you by the same creative minds that established Delicious, DISH and the now sadly defunct D’lish, Canoodling is a restaurant with great singleness of purpose. Apart from drinks, desserts and appetisers, it only serves noodles. Rice, wheaten or egg; soupy, curried or fried—they will all set you back only RM9.90 a bowl.
Canoodling’s menu draws on traditional Chinese and Asian comfort foods, sometimes delivering them straight, and other times with a sneaky twist.
Their red curry duck confit noodles cannot be recommended enough, unless you’re spice-intolerant. The charcoal noodles are visually surprising but have a good bite to them, and drenched in the (very) spicy Thai red curry gravy and topped with a crispy, tender leg of duck you’ll find yourself wondering where else you can get such a complete meal for under RM10.
If you want something a little more low key, their seafood noodles are also excellent—the soup is packed with prawns, squid, fish and clams, and flavoured gently with the salted mustard greens so beloved of Chinese cooks. The dishes here are a gentle introduction to hawker favourites across the country, in a venue that’s bright, unpretentious, and possessed of paper tablecloths to draw on.
