The Ceylon Bar

The Ceylon Bar

The name will doubtless be familiar but regulars on Changkat Bukit Bintang will have noticed that the look has changed almost beyond recognition. Having celebrated six successful years as one of the authentic ‘locals’ in Kuala Lumpur, the Ceylon Bar has undergone an effective and attractive makeover.

The renovations have been tastefully done and they have added some extra style to the naturally friendly ambience that has proved so popular since 2005.

The open-air terrace right on the street, one of the city’s top spots to people-watch and soak up the party scene, remains, while the bar gets an elegant overhaul. Widely recognised as one of the top places in town to enjoy watching live sport, the televisions remain ideally placed. It is not unusual to see partners split up each weekend night, one half shouting and screaming at the television set as their football team plays while the other half sits out on the verandah making new friends and enjoying the moonlight. the Ceylon Bar caters perfectly to both tastes.

Not often immediately recognised for its food, the Ceylon Bar has a very good menu, especially when it comes to traditional western food. It is also non-halal, which means that its sunday breakfasts (with ‘proper’ bacon, of course) are always a hit with expatriates.
