Deepavali Cheer

Students at The International School @ ParkCity celebrated the school’s first Deepavali festival with a programme of events aimed at increasing awareness of Indian culture.

Staff and students came to school wearing traditional Indian clothes and the students participated in a wide range of activities from learning to tie a sari to decorating handprints with traditional mehndi designs.

Year 5 students worked together to produce a beautiful rangoli with coloured rice. The highlight of the day was a special assembly led by the younger students in Reception, Year One and Year Two. The stage was decorated with a beautiful sari, flower garlands and lights.

Older students, teachers and parents were treated to a percussion performance from the Reception class, a demonstration of modern Indian dance by Year One and a fashion parade by Year Two.
